Publisher Description

Every photo tells you where. StatSnap tells you where, which way, how high, and how fast.

StatSnap is a camera that writes your live sensor readings straight into the picture. Frame the shot, tap the shutter, and your coordinates, compass direction, altitude and speed are burned into the photo itself - at full camera resolution, not stamped onto a screenshot.

What lands in the frame

. Location - your latitude and longitude, to four decimal places
. Direction - the cardinal heading you were facing, plus exact degrees
. Altitude - height above sea level
. Speed - how fast you were moving when you took the shot

Readings appear live on the preview, so you always know what the finished photo will say before you take it. Units follow your device settings automatically - feet and mph, or metres and km/h.

Full-resolution photos, not screenshots

Most stat-overlay cameras capture your screen, which caps the result at the size of your display. StatSnap never reads the screen. The stats are composited directly into the camera's own capture at its native resolution - up to 12 megapixels - and the text is drawn as true vector type, so it stays crisp at any size. Print it, crop it, zoom in: the numbers hold up.

Fast enough to keep shooting

The whole capture pipeline was rebuilt for speed. From tap to finished photo now takes roughly a third of a second on recent hardware - less than half what it used to. The shutter gives you an instant flash the moment you tap, so the camera feels like a camera.

Make it yours

. Pick the banner colour and text colour from a five-colour palette
. Dial the banner opacity from solid to barely-there
. Front and rear cameras, portrait and landscape - the overlay scales to fit either, in the same proportion every time
. Tap anywhere on the preview to focus

Every shot saved and ready to share

Finished photos go straight to your photo library and open in the share sheet, so they're one tap from Messages, Mail, Instagram or anywhere else - and they're safely saved whether you share them or not.

Useful for

Site surveys and inspections . construction and field reports . real estate and property documentation . hiking, climbing and trail logs . cycling and motorsport . aviation and marine . geocaching . fieldwork and research . insurance and claims evidence . anywhere a photo needs to prove where it was taken

About permissions

StatSnap explains every permission before asking for it, and you stay in control. The camera is required. Location powers the coordinates, altitude and speed readings - skip it and the photo still works, those fields just read N/A. Photo library access is add-only: StatSnap can save your new photos and nothing else. It cannot see, read or touch the photos already in your library.

StatSnap doesn't track you. Your location is used to draw the numbers on your photo and for nothing else.

Version History StatSnap has been rebuilt from the inside out.

Photos at full camera resolution. StatSnap used to build your photo by capturing the screen, which limited the result to the size of your display. It doesn't any more. Stats are now composited directly into the camera's own full-resolution capture — up to 12 megapixels instead of around 3 — and rendered as vector text rather than scaled-up pixels. The difference is obvious the moment you zoom in.

Twice as fast. Tap-to-photo time is down by more than half, from roughly nine tenths of a second to just over four tenths. The shutter also flashes instantly when you tap, so there's feedback straight away.

A clearer permissions walkthrough. Camera, location and photo library each get their own page explaining what it's for and what StatSnap does — and doesn't do — with it. Location and photo access are optional and say plainly what you lose by skipping. If you've already denied something, you get step-by-step directions to the right Settings screen, and StatSnap notices the moment you come back.

Fixed: crash on launch on iOS 26 and later. StatSnap now adopts the modern app lifecycle iOS requires. This was preventing the app from starting at all on current versions of iOS.

Fixed: oversized banners in landscape. The stat banners could swell to cover most of a landscape photo. They now hold the same proportion of the frame in any orientation.

Fixed: buttons covering your readings. The colour and camera-flip buttons could sit on top of the Altitude and Speed values in portrait. They're now positioned from the banner itself, so they stay clear whatever its height.

Fixed: "failed to save" on photos that saved fine. Saving to your library reported an error for photos that had arrived perfectly well.

Also in this release: tap-to-focus on the preview, an overlay that matches between preview and export at any resolution, and units that follow your device's region settings. 2.0 Sep 25 Stability Update. 1.1 10/24/2022 1.0 10/08/2022
